into the heart.

art is art.

endless art.

nothing lasts forever.

Words

the line fascinates me. i see it everywhere. in buildings, on streets, pavements, boats, bikes, everywhere.

buildings being erected, buildings being torn down, broken kerbs, unlevel paths, you name it i see them. and thats without tripping over as i walk !

lines defining shapes, defining lengths, depths, strengths. and their weaknesses. as the work progresses, unexpected detours arise and are welcomed. these deviations contribute to the uniqueness that feeds the process, mood and atmosphere.

i work on panel, initially with acrylic and as the painting develops with layers of oil. i etch the oil layers. i carve, engrave, gouge. i make my marks gently and forcefully. i add words and lines, i paint over them, i redo them i continue with no agenda just the pleasure of discovery of where each line takes me.

the depths and movements within my paintings are vital ingredients for me. there has to be movement. there has to be energy. turning the beat up loud, my work  sometimes takes on a rhythmic quality. dancing to the sounds. listening to the silence. thinking. clearing the head. switching off. but never waiting. always moving. in whatever direction feels right. only knowing when the work is complete when it is.
